Extreme Dinosaurs; 1×11 ‘Loch Ness Mess’ – Loch Ness Monster / Stegz

leave a comment »

Media: animated series: “Extreme Dinosaurs”
Episode: 1×11: “Loch Ness Mess”

In this episode, the dinosaurs are interested in the famous Loch Ness because they believe it to be another dinosaur.

The raptors, who make the first contact with Nessie, try to train it to attack effigies of each of the Extreme Dinosaurs and eventually discover the monster’s love for herring, giving rise to their plan to bait the Loch Ness monster into eating the Extreme Dinosaurs.

Though the raptors manage to get T-Bone and Spike into the water and gets Nessie to attack them, we know it won’t really succeed, but throughout the episode we see various shots of the Loch Ness monster’s maw while it tries. Near the end of the episode Stegz manages to reunite the Loch Ness monster with its child and as thanks, gets a big sloppy full-body lick. Read the rest of this entry »

Episode: 1×10: “Cyber-Raptors”

After seeing a Jurassic Park-like attraction on television, the Extreme Dinosaurs visit the area out of interest. The raptors, who anticipate this, take control of some animatronic dinosaurs to attack them, including a large mechanical tyrannosaurus that takes a hold of T-Bone and pops him in its mouth. Of course, T-Bone resists and sets himself free from the jaws, breaking the robot in the process. Read the rest of this entry »

Media: animated series: “The Jetsons”
Episode: 1×16: ‘The Little Man’

George was shrunken down by Mr. Spacely during a work demonstration of a shrinking machine. The machine’s reverse function was not operational, and so he was forced to continue his daily life at six inches tall, until the matter was resolved.

When George retired to bed that night, a snoring Astro inhaled deeply, unwittingly sending him flying into his open mouth. George’s angry protests echoed from within before he pries Astro’s mouth open to escape. Read the rest of this entry »

Before the first screen transition in Mission 6 (Final Mission), Allen O’Neil appears as a sub-boss. Defeating him causes him to fall off the platform and into the jaws of an orca, who devours him, making chewing gestures and spits out his bones after returning below the water’s surface. Silent Hill [PS1] – Split Head / Harry

Media: video game: “Silent Hill”
Developer: Konami

The following is particularly spoiler-heavy.

In Midwich Elementary, the first major area of the game, there is a book in the otherworld library reserve that reads:

Hearing this, the hunter armed with bow and arrow said, “I will kill the lizard.” But upon meeting his opponent, he held back, taunting, “Who’s afraid of a reptile?”

At this, the furious lizard hissed, “I’ll swallow you up in a single bite!” Then the huge creature attacked, jaws opened wide.

This was what the man wanted. Calmly drawing his bow, he shot into the lizard’s gaping mouth. Effortlessly, the arrow flew, piercing the defenseless maw, and the lizard fell down dead.

Upon solving all the puzzles, the basement of the otherworld school has an elevator that takes Harry to the boss, a vague monsterish quadruped. At first, it will only attack with a headbutt, but after being shot a number of times, it will reveal that its mouth opens sideways. As the book mentioned previously, the key to defeating the boss is to shoot it with its mouth open. But, if Harry fails to escape (by either killing it quickly, or walking or running away), the enemy’s jaws will close on him resulting in an instant game over, where the screen fades to black and churning and munching sounds are heard.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time [N64] – Jabu-Jabu / Link

leave a comment »

Media: video game: “Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time″
Developer: Nintendo
Platform: N64

In Zora’s Domain, there exists a whale known as Jabu-Jabu that is hailed as the guardian god of the Zora people. Before you can see him, you must present King Zora with the Botted Note found in Lake Hylia, and as the contents of the letter suggests, you will need to enter the body of Jabu-Jabu to rescue someone. When the Bottled Note is shown to King Zora and access to Zora’s Fountain is granted, you will see Jabu-Jabu floating in the water and do mostly nothing.

“According to the ‘Legend of Zora’, the act of offering a fish to Lord Jabu-Jabu will make you happy.”
– One of the Zora in Zora’s Domain

When a fish, either caught or bought, is placed in front of Jabu-Jabu’s nose, he will promptly open his mouth wide, inhaling both it and Link inside. This will happen only the first time you enter. There begins the third dungeon of the game, Inside Jabu-Jabu’s Belly. The insides are roughly what one would expect to see with biological walls, peristaltic activity, and strangely, doors, holes and monsters.

At any time, you are free to leave the dungeon by approaching Jabu-Jabu’s mouth and out past his teeth. To re-enter, simply walking towards Jabu-Jabu will cause him to open his mouth where you can walk leisurely in. Read the rest of this entry »

Parasite Eve II [PS1] – Glutton / Aya

Media: video game: “Parasite Eve II″
Developer: Squaresoft
Platform: PS1

First of all, the predator in question doesn’t seem to have an agreed-upon name since it never seems to be referred to by name in-game, and there doesn’t seem to be any official publications that give it one. People seem to call it Glutton, Garbage Sucker, Trash Monster, Big Mouth, among many made-up names.

Fairly early in Disc 2, Aya will fight a boss in the garbage incinerator of the Shelter area. It appears to be some large quadruped with huge arms and a massive mouth and is noted for its ability to inhale sharply, causing garbage – and Aya – to drift toward its mouth, and if she gets close enough, the boss will grab Aya in its jaws with a loud squish and seemingly swallow her as the screen fades to black and indicates a game over. Because it seems to have a tough protective hide, the most effective way to damage it is to shoot it while it is inhaling, mouth gaping open. Of course, if one reloads their gun at an inopportune time, they may leave themselves open to being helplessly drawn in and devoured.

If the boss’s shoulders are shot at, he tends to summon smaller NMCs (Neo-Mitochondrial Creatures). If these smaller enemies are not disposed of before the boss inhales again, he will eat them (each healing 100HP) and spit them back out at Aya.

Finally, once the boss has been damaged a large amount and moves what most would consider uncomfortably close (stepping forward twice), the boss is then able to use an attack where it sticks out its ridiculously long tongue and slams it on the ground dealing heavy damage and the Berserker status effect. Klonoa: Door to Phantomile [PS1] – Nahatomb / Klonoa

leave a comment »

Media: video game: “Klonoa: Door to Phantomile”
Developer: Namco
Platform: PS1

The following is particularly spoiler-heavy.

The last boss of the game is known as Nahatomb and is described to be a ‘nightmare’ entity. Aside from spawning lesser enemies from the spines of his back and a generic slam attack using his limbs, Nahatomb’s first form can open his mouth wide and extend a long, red tongue to try and ensnare Klonoa, who must jump over it several times like a jump rope. Failure to do so successfully results in Nahatomb pulling Klonoa into his gaping maw, swallowing him and then ejecting him out of the spines of his back.

Once defeated, Nahatomb will inhale Klonoa to fight his second form, though his insides do not look biological. His second and third form do not seem able to eat Klonoa. Read the rest of this entry »

Odin Sphere [PS2] – Leventhan / Player

Media: video game: “Odin Sphere”
Developer: Vanillaware
Platform: PS2

The following is particularly spoiler heavy.

Leventhan is the fifth of the five final bosses of the game. Though only a specific character must fight him to get the good ending, any of them can be selected. Whilst climbing up his staggeringly long body, his head will sometimes approach the player and either shoot a mouth-beam, or engulf the character for heavy continual damage implying that they are being chewed, before letting the character drop out the side of his mouth. Similarly to Belial, even if the character’s HP drops to 0 as a result of the attack, they will still be spit out. Read the rest of this entry »

The first boss of the game is the Hydra, and its numerous incarnations. Immediately starting the game, Kratos is in combat in a stormy ship setting. Within minutes of gameplay, the first incarnation of the Hydra reveals itself, smashing through one of the ship’s hallways. It is only capable of biting attacks though not much else.
