Media: video game: “Final Fantasy X-2”
Developer: Square Enix
Platform: Computer, PS2, PS3, PS4, Switch, Vita, XBONE

Description:

The Great Malboro can be fought in the end-game in the Farplane. They will very rarely use their Chomp attack in which they will grab a party member with its jaws and chew on them, before spitting them out. In the International version and the HD Remaster versions of the game, the Creature Creator can be accessed to recruit monsters, including the Great Malboro into the party, though direct commands cannot be given to monster party members. This allows the attack to be used on virtually any enemy in the game.

Media: video game: “Final Fantasy X”
Developer: Square
Platform: Computer, PS2, PS3, PS4, Switch, Vita, XBONE

Description:

The Great Malboro enemies can be encountered in the Omega Ruins, Inside Sin or the Monster Arena if captured. If attacked with Delay Attack/Buster, it will counter by chomping the party member who inflicted Delay on it, before spitting them out. Interestingly, Aeons can also fall prey to the chomp attack, including Valefor (bird-like Aeon), Ifrit (demon-like Aeon), Ixion (unicorn Aeon), Shiva (female ice-elemental Aeon), Bahamut (dragon Aeon) and Anima (monster-like Aeon).

The Malboro Menace, which can only be fought in the Monster Arena, apparently has this ability as well, however, it seems to be much more difficult to trigger it to use its chomping attack.

These can be fought in the Monster Arena once captured.

There are other variants of this creature in the game with the same ability, known as the Abyss Worm and Land Worm.

Media: video game: “Final Fantasy X”
Developer: Square
Platform: Computer, PS2, PS3, PS4, Switch, Vita, XBONE

Description:

Very early in the game, Tidus will wind up in what is later known to be the submerged Baaj Temple, where the large cage-like fiend Geosgaeno resides. After fighting some Sahagin fiends, Geosgaeno makes its appearance and tries to swallow Tidus by sucking up the water around him, however Tidus narrowly escapes in a cutscene.

Much later in the game, once the airship is obtained, a return can be made to Baaj Temple to face Geosgaeno to a rematch, though the party members are limited to Tidus, Wakka and Rikku, as they are the only characters that can hold their breath for an extended period. In this second fight, Geosgaeno is able to inhale the party members individually to trap them in its chest cavity, where they can struggle inside to cause damage. Doing so will cause Geosgaeno to regurgitate them for heavy damage.

Odin Sphere [PS2] – Leventhan / Player

with 3 comments

Media: video game: “Odin Sphere”
Developer: Vanillaware
Platform: PS2

The following is particularly spoiler heavy.

Leventhan is the fifth of the five final bosses of the game. Though only a specific character must fight him to get the good ending, any of them can be selected. Whilst climbing up his staggeringly long body, his head will sometimes approach the player and either shoot a mouth-beam, or engulf the character for heavy continual damage implying that they are being chewed, before letting the character drop out the side of his mouth. Similarly to Belial, even if the character’s HP drops to 0 as a result of the attack, they will still be spit out. Read the rest of this entry »
