Description:

In the Flash game, ‘Extreme Herder,’ the player controls a blue Kacheek named Samrin, who must save his Petpets (dog-like Doglefox, sheep-like Babaa, cat-like Angelpuss) from being eaten by Balthazar, the Lupe. Neopets [Web] – Balthazar / Samrin, Petpets

leave a comment »

Media: video game: “Neopets”
Developer: The Neopets Team
Platform: Web

Description:

The Flash game, ‘Extreme Herder 2,’ is a newer, somewhat more polished version of what is essentially the same game as its predecessor. Again, the player controls a blue Kacheek named Samrin, who must save his Petpets (pig-like Snorkle, sheep-like Babaa, and a lizard-like Petpet I can’t identify) from being eaten by Balthazar, though this depiction of Balthazar has him more anthropomorphic, standing on his hind legs rather than all-fours. If Balthazar encounters either Samrin or the Petpets, Balthazar will reach forward and bring his hands to his mouth, but his prey seems to disappear far too early for this action to make any real sense, much less so for Samrin, who respawns before Balthazar can even bring him to his mouth.

Developer: The Neopets Team
Platform: Web

Description:

There is a very rare (and old) Neodeck collectable card item (different to the TCG cards that came much later) known as The Hairy Tongue Beast. Inspecting the item shows an image of a hairy monster licking the back of a Scorchio’s head, with the accompanying description:

… whats [sic] that noise behind us? Oh, what else could it be in this old, dark, deserted mineshaft… its [sic] just some water dripping…

Neopets [Web] – Tiger, Frog / Kacheek, Quiggle

Media: video game: “Neopets”
Developer: The Neopets Team
Platform: Web

Description:

The very old Flash-based choose-your-adventure story game, ‘The Haunted House” can be found in the Haunted Woods hub in Neopia. It features a Kacheek and Quiggle exploring a haunted house after their car breaks down, and choosing various paths can result in the deaths of the main characters, with somewhat crude animations available, if the skull in the top right corner is clicked. If the player chooses to go to the back yard, they are presented with two choices to navigate to, both of which results in a dead end.

The abandoned zoo has two giant tigers that “have not been fed since 1850.” The accompanying animation shows a close-up of the main characters, who are grabbed by a giant paw that pulls them to be eaten off screen. A gulp can be heard soon after.

The swampy, dirty fountain houses a giant frog that leaps out of the water, uses its large tongue to grab the main characters and swallows them before returning into the fountain water once again.

He will use his long tongue to grab a random Petpet to swallow. Points are earned each time the hand blocks a Petpet escaping, as well each time Florg successfully eats one. Featured Petpets that Florg can each include Warfs (dog type), Tennas (alien type), Spyders (spider… type), Kookiths (miscellaneous type), Hassees (miscellaneous type) and Slorgs (slug type).

Neopets [Web] – Turmaculus / Petpets

leave a comment »

Media: video game: “Neopets”
Developer: The Neopets Team
Platform: Web

Description:

In the Meridell hub world, the Turmaculus can be visited, as a semi-daily activity. He, himself, is a Turmac Petpet, albeit a very overgrown one, attributed to non-stop eating. The daily activity involves trying to wake him up for a reward, and is able to be woken during a select hour each day, and will often reward items, NP, or other benefits such as healing Neopets. Perhaps the most sought after (and perhaps, rarest) outcome is the Turmaculus eating your Neopet’s Petpet. Of course, this results in permanent loss of that Petpet, but it also rewards the player with the Turmaculus unlockable avatar, as well as unlocking him to fight in the Battledome. This is not animated and is conveyed with text and still pictures.

The unlockable avatar depicts the Turmaculus with its tongue extended towards a Petpet he holds in his hand, and shares artwork with the Turmaculus trading card (physical card as well as featured as a digital item). Other official Turmaculus artwork exists, though is not featured in the actual activity itself.

Description:

In the Flash game, ‘Snowbeast Snackrifice,’ the player controls a Kyrii Neopet to strike various Petpets towards the Snowbeast’s cave as a sacrifice. Correctly landing a Petpet in the right location causes the Snowbeast’s paw to emerge and drag it away to (presumably) be eaten off-screen. The featured Petpets include Polarchucks (polar bear type), Snorkles (pig type) and Meepits (hamster type).

Neopets [Web] – Grarrl, Skeith, Jetsam / Various

leave a comment »

Media: video game: “Neopets”
Developer: The Neopets Team
Platform: Web

Description:

Normally items in Neopets have predetermined uses; you can read items to Neopets if they are books, use them to play if they are toys, equip if their are equipment, feed if they are food, et cetera. There are exceptions, such as Grarrls (T-rex-type) and Skeiths (dragon/demon-type), who are known for their appetite for anything, and indeed, can eat any item, including items that are sentient, such as Petpets and any other non-food item, like furniture or rocks (beware items costing millions of NP!) and will often comment on the taste. Level of satiety will also be commented on. Jetsams (shark-type) can do this as well, but only with aquatic Petpets, and doing so actually unlocks a special avatar.

Please note, the following screenshots have been heavily edited to conceal identifying pet names and usernames.
