Description:

Before the first screen transition in Mission 6 (Final Mission), Allen O’Neil appears as a sub-boss. Defeating him causes him to fall off the platform and into the jaws of an orca, who devours him, making chewing gestures and spits out his bones after returning below the water’s surface.

Johnny Bravo – Orca

leave a comment »

Media: TV series: “Johnny Bravo” by Van Partible
Season: 1
Episode: 1B: “Johnny Bravo And The Amazon Women”

In the beginning of the episode, after hitting on a woman during a whale-watching cruise, Johnny falls victim to pepper spray and falls off the ship which quickly sails away. Johnny stares blankly at some fish leaping out of the water around him when a very large orca leaps out the water, swallowing him and the fish. The whole scene takes less than a second before the orca dives back into the water.

After a relatively silent few seconds, the large mammal resurfaces and finds Johnny unpalatable, spitting him up and sending him flying toward an island where he continues with his fruitless pursuit of women for the rest of the episode.

I’ve always found it hilarious that Johnny and his hunger for beautiful women in this episode ends up instead with a crowd of beautiful men.

Kirby’s Dream Land 3 – Acro

leave a comment »

Media: video game: “Kirby’s Dream Land 3″ by HAL Laboratory
Platform: Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), Wii Virtual Console

Once the game is beaten, including defeating the final boss after collecting all the star-heart pieces, a new mode labelled simply as “B” will unlock in the options menu of that save file. B mode pits Kirby against all the game’s bosses with only a single life allowance. The second boss of the game is the orca known as “Acro” (Get it? ‘Orca’ backwards!). Even though it looks like he could, he is unable to devour Kirby in either the main game or the B mode, but if you lose to Acro in B mode, you are treated to a still image of Acro holding Kirby between his jaws. Enjoy it, because it takes a while to beat the game to completion!
