Neopets [Web] – Grarrl, Skeith, Jetsam / Various

leave a comment »

Media: video game: “Neopets”
Developer: The Neopets Team
Platform: Web

Description:

Normally items in Neopets have predetermined uses; you can read items to Neopets if they are books, use them to play if they are toys, equip if their are equipment, feed if they are food, et cetera. There are exceptions, such as Grarrls (T-rex-type) and Skeiths (dragon/demon-type), who are known for their appetite for anything, and indeed, can eat any item, including items that are sentient, such as Petpets and any other non-food item, like furniture or rocks (beware items costing millions of NP!) and will often comment on the taste. Level of satiety will also be commented on. Jetsams (shark-type) can do this as well, but only with aquatic Petpets, and doing so actually unlocks a special avatar.

Please note, the following screenshots have been heavily edited to conceal identifying pet names and usernames.

Media: animated series: “Zig & Sharko”
Producer: Xilam Animation
Episode: 1x21c: “Bristlebeard’s Adventure”

Marina is captured by pirates, and in order to get closer to her, Zig tries to join them. As a part of his hazing, Zig is forced into doing various tasks, including climbing the crow’s nest, after which one pirate lifts it off the deck and tips it over the side of the ship, causing Zig to fall into a gator’s mouth and be eaten. In another, Zig is make to walk the plank where the same gator is waiting below – a pirate splits the plank in two, causing Zig to once again, fall into the gator’s mouth to be eaten.

During this time, Sharko is incapacitated, with a cannon lodged on his head. He walks around blinded, into the open mouth of a whale, and is shot out of the blowhole.

At the end of the episode, Zig is seen with the same gator once again, and the scene pans out, away from the island, as the sound of the gator’s chomp and Zig’s screams are heard.

Episode: 1x18c: “Super Zig”

Zig creates a superhero persona, and he and Bernie use a number of gadgets to try catch Marina. In his final scheme, Zig uses a glove ray invented by Bernie that splits its target into multiple smaller versions of itself. Upon seeing this, Sharko tries to shield Marina by putting her in his mouth and swimming away. Zig’s stray shots hit many objects for comical effect, including Neptune, who is seen fighting a giant serpent. The serpent splits into a hydra when hit by the beam and all its heads go to bite Neptune. Once Zig’s plan is foiled, Marina forces Bernie to reverse the glove ray’s effects, including on the now-hydra. The hydra, with its multiple heads still biting Neptune, is turned back into a singular serpent, and swims away with Neptune still in its mouth.
