Joe & Mac [NES] – T-Rex & Baby T-rex

leave a comment »

Media: video game: “Joe & Mac”
Developer: Elite Systems
Platform: NES

Description:

The boss of level 1 is a tyrannosaurus (after the smaller T-rex). He attacks mainly by spitting rocks, but occasionally will spit out smaller rexes that will attack you. The red tyrannosaurus (the second-to-last boss) seems to only be able to spit up rocks and not smaller dinosaurs.

Final Fantasy VIII – T-Rexaur

Media: video game: “Final Fantasy VIII″
Developer: Squaresoft (now Square Enix)
Publisher: Squaresoft (now Square Enix)
Platform:  PS1, PSN, PC

Early in Disc 1, one may encounter a powerful enemy known as ‘T-Rexaur’ in the Balamb Garden Training Center or the forest outside Fire Cavern and is capable of a biting attack. Of course, dozens of enemies in this game will use a biting attack and very few if any will get mentioned here specifically. However, aside from the basic bite attack, at higher levels (either from raising the levels of the playable characters themselves, or raising the enemies’ level via Tonberry’s ‘LV Up’ command ability) T-Rexaur is capable of a slightly different biting attack where he will grab one of the characters in his jaws, lift them up in the air before tossing them back.

Caveman Ugh-lympics – Tyrannosaurus

Media: video game: “Caveman Ugh-lympics” by Dynamix
Platform: Commodore 64

One of the events of this game is known as Dino Vault.

Blorg:
“Run fast. Plant pole right place. Let go right time. Not all right, you dino delight.”

Just as one can imagine, this is a spin on the pole vault event, where a caveman is to vault over a tyrannosaurus. If they are to vault directly toward the mouth, the dinosaur will chew up the caveman, spitting him out stark naked (in contrast to the NES version where they still have cavemen underwear) into the water before grinning. Otherwise, if the caveman does not vault directly into the mouth, the dino will grab the caveman’s loin cloth, shaking them out of their clothes into the water before eating the clothes instead.

Just as one can imagine, this is a spin on the pole vault event, where a caveman is to vault over a tyrannosaurus. If they are to vault directly toward the mouth, the dinosaur will chew up the caveman, spitting him out wearing nothing but their caveman underwear (unlike the C64 version where they’re in the nude) into the water before grinning. Otherwise, if the caveman does not vault directly into the mouth, the dino will grab the caveman’s loin cloth, shaking them out of their clothes into the water before eating the clothes instead.

Chrono Trigger – Tyrano

leave a comment »

Media: video game: “Chrono Trigger” by Square
Platform: Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), Playstation, Nintendo DS.

Chrono Trigger I’m sure is known to most gamers for being a classic game done incredibly well, with an interesting storyline, memorable music and gorgeous graphics. The most notable feature of the game is the time-travelling aspect, that changes the setting from prehistoria to distant future, where one can witness and effects of actions in the past on the future. There are seven playable characters that include five human characters, one anthro frog and one robot.

Around halfway into the game, when forced to travel to 65,000,000 B.C. for the second time, one will eventually fight the boss ‘Black Tyrano’ along with the leader of the Reptites, Azala. One of the Tyrano’s attacks is to flick an unfortunately poorly animated tongue (in actuality, a series of red circles) to one of your party members, pulling them into its mouth. The Tyrano chews and then spits the character out, draining them of a large amount of HP.

This can be seen at 2:18 of the following video.

Similarly, near the end of the game, during the quest to find the Rainbow Shell, you will fight another version of the same boss, known as the ‘Rust Tyrano’, with an identical tongue attack.

This can be seen at 4:26 of the following video.
