leave a comment »

Media: TV series: “Merrie Melodies”
Episode: “The Night of the Living Duck”

Description:

In this animated short, Daffy Duck is reading horror comics, and in his fervor to find the next continuation he is conked out by a Smogzilla clock. In his dreams he imagines himself a lounge-singer to a room of classical monsters. After singing his monster-related number, he realises one of the monsters in the audience is none other than Smogzilla himself, and makes a few quips about him. Smogzilla, clearly vexed, retaliates by encasing Daffy’s torso in his mouth, feet kicking furiously before Daffy wakes from his dream inside a waste-basket. Read the rest of this entry »

Episode: 1×16: ‘The Little Man’

Description:

George was shrunken down by Mr. Spacely during a work demonstration of a shrinking machine. The machine’s reverse function was not operational, and so he was forced to continue his daily life at six inches tall, until the matter was resolved.

When George retired to bed that night, a snoring Astro inhaled deeply, unwittingly sending him flying into his open mouth. George’s angry protests echoed from within before he pries Astro’s mouth open to escape. Read the rest of this entry »

Media: video game: “Super Mario World”
Developer: Nintendo
Platform:

Description:

Yoshi – who can be first met in the stage Yoshi’s Island 2, is able to grab certain enemies with his long tongue to swallow enemies (gaining one coin). The Koopa Troopers are the main exception to this because of their shells. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time [N64] – Jabu-Jabu / Link

leave a comment »

Media: video game: “Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time″
Developer: Nintendo
Platform: N64

Description:

In Zora’s Domain, there exists a whale known as Jabu-Jabu that is hailed as the guardian god of the Zora people. Before you can see him, you must present King Zora with the Botted Note found in Lake Hylia, and as the contents of the letter suggests, you will need to enter the body of Jabu-Jabu to rescue someone. When the Bottled Note is shown to King Zora and access to Zora’s Fountain is granted, you will see Jabu-Jabu floating in the water and do mostly nothing.

“According to the ‘Legend of Zora’, the act of offering a fish to Lord Jabu-Jabu will make you happy.”
– One of the Zora in Zora’s Domain

When a fish, either caught or bought, is placed in front of Jabu-Jabu’s nose, he will promptly open his mouth wide, inhaling both it and Link inside. This will happen only the first time you enter. There begins the third dungeon of the game, Inside Jabu-Jabu’s Belly. The insides are roughly what one would expect to see with biological walls, peristaltic activity, and strangely, doors, holes and monsters.

At any time, you are free to leave the dungeon by approaching Jabu-Jabu’s mouth and out past his teeth. To re-enter, simply walking towards Jabu-Jabu will cause him to open his mouth where you can walk leisurely in. Read the rest of this entry »

Final Fantasy VIII [PS1] – Party Members / Various

leave a comment »

Media: video game: “Final Fantasy VIII″
Developer: Squaresoft
Platform: PS1

Description:

There is a command ability in the game known as ‘Devour’ and can be used if a character junctions a Guardian Force with that ability. Under natural circumstances, that would mean junctioning the GF, Eden, which is itself acquired by drawing it from Ultima Weapon in the Deep Sea Research Center after gaining the airship Ragnarok in Disc 3, or by drawing it from Tiamat in Disc 4. It is also possible to teach another GF the Devour ability by using the ‘Hungry Cookpot’ item, though they are quite rare and hard to obtain.

When used, the character will run up to the selected enemy, at which point a photograph of a peaceful scene (flower, field, ocean) pops up with a text marquee that says “Censored… Please stand by…”. If the attack is successful (chances improving the more the enemy has been damaged) there will be generic rumbling noises during the ‘censor’ screen and the enemy will have disappeared from battle. The character who Devoured the enemy will either gain or lose HP, be afflicted with or heal status effects, or permanently raise a stat (each type of monster has a set effect, though varies with enemy level) with a corresponding comment of how that enemy tasted:

“All systems go!”
Max HP raised by 10, 100% HP healed, all status effects removed

“Gained strength”
Strength raised by 1, 100% HP healed, all status effects removed

“Feel healthier”
Vitality raised by 1, 100% HP healed, all status effects removed

“Clear head!”
Magic raised by 1, 100% HP healed, all status effects removed

“Increased morale”
Spirit raised by 1, 100% HP healed, all status effects removed

“Light on my feet!”
Speed raised by 1, 100% HP healed, all status effects removed

“Refreshing!”
100% HP healed, all status effects removed

“Delicious!”
100% HP healed

“Tastes okay…”
50% HP healed

“No good!”
No effect

“Tastes funny…”
Causes status effect Stone

“Can’t see anything”
6.25% HP lost, causes status effect Darkness

“It’s rotten…”
6.25% HP lost, causes status effect Zombie

“Tastes awful!!!”
12.5% HP lost, causes status effect Poison

“Barf… bwahhh!!!”
50% HP lost, causes status effect Poison

“Shouldn’t have… eaten… it…”
75% HP lost, causes status effects Poison, Darkness, Silence, Sleep, Slow, Curse

leave a comment »

Media: video game: “Caveman Ugh-lympics”
Developer: Dynamix
Platform: C64

Blorg:
“Run fast. Plant pole right place. Let go right time. Not all right, you dino delight.”

One of the events of this game is known as Dino Vault, which is a spin on the pole vault event, where a caveman is to vault over a tyrannosaurus. If they are to vault directly toward the mouth, the dinosaur will chew up the caveman, spitting him out stark naked into the water before grinning. Otherwise, if the caveman does not vault directly into the mouth, the dino will grab the caveman’s loin cloth, shaking them out of their clothes into the water before eating the clothes instead. Odin Sphere [PS2] – Gallon / Cornelius

leave a comment »

Media: video game: “Odin Sphere”
Developer: Vanillaware
Platform: PS2

Description:

The following is particularly spoiler heavy.

Gallon is the second of the five final bosses in Odin Sphere. Any character can be selected to fight him, but if Cornelius is chosen (despite resulting in the bad ending), this will trigger unique dialogue before and after the battle, though Gallon is not seen to devour anyone on-screen.

Before fighting Gallon, Cornelius speaks with him, who mentions – perhaps in too much detail – having devoured King Edmund.

After fighting him, Cornelius is seen kneeling on the ground, resigned, as Gallon describes how he would subject Cornelius to the same fate, though before he lunges at him, the screen fades to black.

Media: video game: “Odin Sphere”
Developer: Vanillaware
Platform: PS2

Description:

The boss, Belial is a dragon with a very snake-like appearance and is fought a number of times throughout this game, once by each of the different characters. His signature attack is to inhale the character and swallow them for considerable digestion damage before regurgitating them. If he fails to swallow the character, he will simply regurgitate debris. Belial will spit out the character even if they lose all their HP as a result of the attack. Read the rest of this entry »

Extreme Dinosaurs; 1×17 ‘Incredible Shrinking Dinosaurs’ – Haxx / Bullzeye

leave a comment »

Media: TV series: “Extreme Dinosaurs”
Episode: 1×17: ‘Incredible Shrinking Dinosaurs’

In this episode, the raptors are planning to destroy the world’s forests with the use of some form of herbicide, but the Extreme Dinosaurs have caught wind of this operation and attempt to thwart their plans. During their fight, Haxx, one of the raptors, douses each of the Extreme Dinosaurs in some of the chemicals which in turn is struck by a freak lightning bolt, effectively turning it into shrink gas and miniaturising T-Bone, Spike, Stegz and Bullzeye, unbeknownst to the raptors who simply shrug off their enemies’ mysterious ‘disappearance’. Simplistic, but I’ve seen worse storylines.

Bullzeye, now the size of a fly, tries to mess with the raptors by buzzing around their ears and whispering insults to them, confusing them into fighting with one another. When he uses his signature screech ability near Haxx’s ear, he notices the ‘bug’ and furiously chases after it, eventually catching mini-Bullzeye. He states, “Bugs aren’t usually first choice on the menu, but this one I’m really going to enjoy!”, before opening his mouth, closing his eyes and tossing him in with a loud chomp noise.
