Developer: Rare
Platform: N64, XB360

In the third world, Clanker’s Cavern, there is a large semi-mechanical ‘whale’ named Clanker who supposedly acts as a garbage disposal. Though he is referred to in-game as a whale and has a blowhole, his appearance, as well as the presence of gills, screams “shark.” Upon freeing him from being chained underwater and collecting the Jiggie on his back, he will complain of a toothache and request Banjo and Kazooie’s help. Two golden teeth can be shot at using eggs, causing them to fall in. Banjo and Kazooie can then enter this space into his mouth and body, where pools of water, flesh and metal can be seen. Entry is also possible through his gills and his blowhole, leading to different parts of his body.

Developer: Square
Platform: Computer, PS2, PS3, PS4, Switch, Vita, XBONE

Description:

The Great Malboro enemies can be encountered in the Omega Ruins, Inside Sin or the Monster Arena if captured. If attacked with Delay Attack/Buster, it will counter by chomping the party member who inflicted Delay on it, before spitting them out. Interestingly, Aeons can also fall prey to the chomp attack, including Valefor (bird-like Aeon), Ifrit (demon-like Aeon), Ixion (unicorn Aeon), Shiva (female ice-elemental Aeon), Bahamut (dragon Aeon) and Anima (monster-like Aeon).

The Malboro Menace, which can only be fought in the Monster Arena, apparently has this ability as well, however, it seems to be much more difficult to trigger it to use its chomping attack.

leave a comment »

Media: video game: “Kirby’s Dream Land 3”
Developer: HAL Laboratory
Platform: SNES, Wii

Description:

In stage 3-6 of this game, most of the area is confined in a black pyramid-like structure. Toward its exit (taking the direct-right path in the main room), there are invisible enemies who only reveal themselves to you when you approach. They are simply disembodied faces. Much like Pacto of stage 2-3, if you stand under them, they will attempt to devour you. In Peloo’s case, it will extend a very long tongue to draw Kirby in before chewing him up and spitting him out, for half an icon of damage.

As also mentioned in the other Kirby’s Dream Land 3 posts, Kirby’s other friends who can fall prey include Kine the ocean sunfish, Pitch the bird, Coo the owl, Chuchu the slime, Nago the cat and Rick the hamster. Read the rest of this entry »

If you wander under where he waits, he will descend on Kirby and whichever of his friends is with him at that point in time, close his jaws and chew with a high pitched squeaky sound. Kirby is then released, half an icon of health poorer than when he entered.

Each of Kirby’s friends who can fall prey to Pacto include Kine the ocean sunfish, Pitch the bird, Coo the owl, Chuchu the slime, Nago the cat and Rick the hamster.
