Media: video game: “Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island”
Developer: Nintendo
Platform:
SNES

Description:

Piranha Plants appear throughout the game and found as early as level 1-1. From a distance, their bodies are shrunken, but will grow and expose themselves when Yoshi is near. This can often catch players by surprise. Should Yoshi mistakenly come too close, the Piranha Plant will encase Yoshi (letting Mario out in a bubble) and contract and expand its body as if to suggest chewing. After a few seconds, Yoshi is spit back up.

Media: video game: “Joe & Mac”
Developer: Elite Systems
Platform: NES

Description:

The boss of level 1 is a tyrannosaurus (after the smaller T-rex). He attacks mainly by spitting rocks, but occasionally will spit out smaller rexes that will attack you. The red tyrannosaurus (the second-to-last boss) seems to only be able to spit up rocks and not smaller dinosaurs.

Platform:  Playstation, Playstation Network

In Fracture Hills, the sixteenth listed stage of the game, there are shrub-like plants with faces. Their facial features aren’t always apparent, making it possible to mistaken them for normal plants. When approached, the Killer Bush with lunge toward Spyro, mouth open wide to engulf him, chew him up (with the traditional squishy sound effects) before spitting him up and continuing on its merry way. Even with Spyro’s health completely depleted, he is still spit back up.

Media: video game: “Spyro 2” by Insonmiac Games
Platform:  Playstation, Playstation Network

In Aquaria Towers, the seventh listed stage of the game, Moneybags warns you of metal sharks and pitches his shark-proof shark submarine for 100 gems. Declining his offer gives you the option of swimming through the metal sharks’ cavern which will quickly send a shark your way to chomp down Spyro causing him to immediately lose a life.

At the end of the game, once all 16 of the skill points have been achieved, you are treated to an ‘epilogue’ – still images that feature many of the different characters of the game and what supposedly happens to them after the ending. One of them features Hunter himself about to be chomped by a metal shark.
