Extreme Dinosaurs; 1×21 ‘The Bad Seed’ – Flytraps / Dinosaurs

leave a comment »

Media: animated series: “Extreme Dinosaurs”
Episode: 1×21: “The Bad Seed”

The raptors’ plan to raise Earth’s temperature for this episode involves rapidly growing plants that produce potent greenhouse gases. Seeking plant samples, they are seen to collect a species of flytrap (which we see eating a fly), and when Haxx comments on its small size, Spittor hints at his plans to beef them up.

Using their special lights to speed their growth, the raptors unleash the plants – which are now colossal size – onto New York city. One of the flytraps is seen to engulf a bus (though the people inside escape before becoming plant food) and spits it out shortly afterwards.

Bullzeye, believing himself to be safe in the air lets his guard down and becomes engulfed for a few minutes while the other dinosaurs themselves struggle with growing vines. They advise him to try freezing the plant from the inside, which causes it to spit him out.

Later on, T-Bone, Spike and Stegz willingly allow some of the flytraps to engulf them as part of a plan to transport themselves to the raptors’ base of operation. They employ the same strategy and freeze the plants from the inside, causing to spit them out. Oddly, both T-Bone and Spike are ejected clean and dry, while Stegz is the only one smeared with purple saliva. “Messy, but otherwise a superb form of transportation”, he says.

As the Extreme Dinosaurs fight the raptors, they headbutt a cyber-raptor into the maw of one of the flytraps, and after knocking Haxx and Spittor off of the building, Badrap also gets a taste of being plant-food himself. Stegz reverses the grow lights and the plants recede – including three flytraps that spit out the raptors (though we didn’t see Haxx and Spittor being engulfed on-screen). Episode: 1×20: “Bones of Contention”

Description:

Four dinosaur skeletons have come to life following construction over their graves and the Extreme Dinosaurs fight them in an attempt to control their destructive rampage. Extreme Dinosaurs; 1×11 ‘Loch Ness Mess’ – Loch Ness Monster / Stegz

leave a comment »

Media: animated series: “Extreme Dinosaurs”
Episode: 1×11: “Loch Ness Mess”

Description:

In this episode, the dinosaurs are interested in the famous Loch Ness because they believe it to be another dinosaur.

The raptors, who make the first contact with Nessie, try to train it to attack effigies of each of the Extreme Dinosaurs and eventually discover the monster’s love for herring, giving rise to their plan to bait the Loch Ness monster into eating the Extreme Dinosaurs.

Though the raptors manage to get T-Bone and Spike into the water and gets Nessie to attack them, we know it won’t really succeed, but throughout the episode we see various shots of the Loch Ness monster’s maw while it tries. Near the end of the episode Stegz manages to reunite the Loch Ness monster with its child and as thanks, gets a big sloppy full-body lick. Read the rest of this entry »

DinoCity – Plant / Player

leave a comment »

Media: video game: “DinoCity”
Developer: Irem
Platform: SNES

Description:

Early in stage 1, if you enter the dark brown door, you will be transported to an area with numerous dinosaur plants. They cannot be damaged, and if you venture too near (or are unwittingly sent to their proximity by trampoline creatures or rising platforms) both the human and dinosaur partners are drawn in, chewed up with a deep rumbling sound and spat out. If all hearts are depleted, they are expelled regardless. It is possible to send either the human or the dinosaur friend to be masticated separately, depending on whether or not you make the human dismount his dinosaur partner. If the partner who isn’t being controlled falls prey to them, they won’t lose any hearts. Read the rest of this entry »

If successful, Rex can be seen inside the body of the snake, struggling, and if the player does not press any buttons, the snake will happily crawl away with a rapidly shrinking bulge in its body. However, if the player chooses to mash buttons and use the fire breath, Rex will break free, killing the snake. Read the rest of this entry »

Radical Rex [Genesis, Sega CD, SNES] – Allosaurus / Radical Rex

leave a comment »

Media: video game: “Radical Rex”
Developer: Beam Software
Platform: Genesis, Sega CD, SNES

Description:

Radical Rex can be seen carelessly skateboarding into the mouth of an allosaurus twice in the game. At the beginning of level 3 – known as ‘Inner Works 1’ – Rex is seen skateboarding and attempts to stop once he sees his would-be predator, but gets eaten anyway (his skateboard is spit out). Similarly at the beginning of level 8 – ‘Inner Works 2’ – Rex does an aerial trick with his skateboard and inadvertently lands in the mouth of what appears to be the same dinosaur. Both of these levels are convoluted maze levels with what one would imagine is inside a living creature, including stomach acids. If Rex falls into the acid pits, he will immediately disintegrate and lose a life.

A level select code exists – on the game start screen (where “1 Player” etc. can be selected),  input the following using the second controller:

  • On Genesis and Sega CD: A, C, Down, Right, Up, B.
  • On SNES: Right, A, Down, Right, Y, X.
