Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap [Android, Computer, iOS, PS4, Switch, XBONE] – Dragon / Lion-Man

Media: video game: “Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap”
Developer: Lizardcube
Platform: Android, Computer, iOS, PS4, Switch, XBONE

In the gallery, there is a rough sketch animation of the Lion-Man being chomped on by a large dragon’s mouth, that, after pulling him inside fully, licks its lips, complete with drops of saliva. After a short while, the mouth spits him back out and the animation loops endlessly, all to the sound of relaxing lounge music. This appears to be unused in the game itself. This gallery item is presumably unlocked some time after unlocking Lion-Man himself.

Dark Souls II [Computer, PS3, PS4, XB360, XBONE] – Covetous Demon / Player

Media: video game: “Dark Souls II”
Developer: From Software
Platform: Computer, PS3, PS4, XB360, XBONE

The boss following the Mines area is the Covetous Demon – a corpulent, almost worm-like enemy. As the player enters the area, he will conspicuously lick his lips as if anticipating a meal. If nearby, he will uncommonly use his grab attack, in which he opens his mouth wide, wave his long tongue around and grab the player, pulling them into his mouth, chewing them up and licking his lips once again. The player’s equipment will be removed as a result of this attack (effectively, undressing the player with his mouth/tongue!), spitting them back out in their underwear. If the player loses all their health as a result of the grab attack, they will simply disappear while inside the mouth and not get spit out, though the Covetous Demon will motion as if he will spit them up.

Overhead are pots containing a number of undead. If broken, the undead will fall into the arena and can act as bait, attracting the attention of the Covetous Demon, who will eat them in the same way as he does the player, and will not spit them back out.

Klonoa [Wii] – Nahatomb / Klonoa

Media: video game: “Klonoa”
Developer: Namco
Platform: Wii

The following is particularly spoiler-heavy.

The last boss of the game is known as Nahatomb and is described to be a ‘nightmare’ entity. Aside from spawning lesser enemies from the spines of his back and a generic slam attack using his limbs, Nahatomb’s first form can open his mouth wide and extend a long, red tongue to try and ensnare Klonoa, who must jump over it several times like a jump rope. Failure to do so successfully results in Nahatomb pulling Klonoa into his gaping maw, swallowing him and then ejecting him out of the spines of his back.

Once defeated, Nahatomb will inhale Klonoa to fight his second form, though his insides do not look biological. His second and third form do not seem able to eat Klonoa. Read the rest of this entry »

The boss of world 1 Jungle is Mugly, who resembles a yellow stumpy rhinoceros with a large tongue. Mugly will flaps his jaws open and closed to signify he will run forward, grab Donkey Kong (and/or Diddy), spraying saliva everywhere, chew them up and spit them out. If all health is depleted, Donkey/Diddy will be spit out regardless. Read the rest of this entry »

Extreme Dinosaurs; 1×17 ‘Incredible Shrinking Dinosaurs’ – Haxx / Bullzeye

Media: TV series: “Extreme Dinosaurs”
Episode: 1×17: ‘Incredible Shrinking Dinosaurs’

In this episode, the raptors are planning to destroy the world’s forests with the use of some form of herbicide, but the Extreme Dinosaurs have caught wind of this operation and attempt to thwart their plans. During their fight, Haxx, one of the raptors, douses each of the Extreme Dinosaurs in some of the chemicals which in turn is struck by a freak lightning bolt, effectively turning it into shrink gas and miniaturising T-Bone, Spike, Stegz and Bullzeye, unbeknownst to the raptors who simply shrug off their enemies’ mysterious ‘disappearance’. Simplistic, but I’ve seen worse storylines.

Bullzeye, now the size of a fly, tries to mess with the raptors by buzzing around their ears and whispering insults to them, confusing them into fighting with one another. When he uses his signature screech ability near Haxx’s ear, he notices the ‘bug’ and furiously chases after it, eventually catching mini-Bullzeye. He states, “Bugs aren’t usually first choice on the menu, but this one I’m really going to enjoy!”, before opening his mouth, closing his eyes and tossing him in with a loud chomp noise. Secret of Mana [SNES, Wii] – Biting Lizard / Player

Media: video game: “Secret of Mana”
Developer: Squaresoft
Platform: SNES, Wii

Fairly early in the game, after fighting the Spikey Tiger boss, Luka will ask you to investigate the waterfalls immediately east of the Water Palace. Inside, there will be a small pink egg patterned with a love heart that births a pink tadpole dubbed Tonpole in the English version. It is incapable of any special attacks and is only able to cause damage by jumping around.

Once damaged a sufficient amount, the music will change to boss battle music and the Tonpole will mature into a Biting Lizard, a blue lizard capable of an unnamed tongue attack that will grab any of your party members standing above, below or to the side of it. As a result it will invariably swallow that party member. If struck, the Biting Lizard will spit out that player, but if left alone it will do so regardless.

Around the midpoint of the game in the Frost Palace, you will fight three Tonpoles in a boss battle simultaneously, all of which can mature. However, if you bought all the armour in the previous town, the Biting Lizards’ swallow attack cannot cause any damage.

Near the end of the game after gaining Dryad’s magic, there is a boss battle with a green variant of the Biting Lizard known as a Snap Dragon. It is not associated with a tadpole stage so will mature immediately after hatching. Its swallow attack is much more powerful, causing considerable damage even with the latest armor. Caveman Ninja [Arcade] – The Legendary Giant Tyrant Triffid / Joe, Mac

with 3 comments

Media: video game: “Caveman Ninja”
Developer: Data East
Platform: Arcade

The boss of the second stage is known as The Legendary Giant Tyrant Triffid. If you stand in front of it, it has a tendency to grab the cavemen with a vine and shove them in its mouth, chew, lick its lips and spit out the unfortunate caveman’s remains, which of course, means one life immediately lost. If successful, the Triffid will declare in a deep voice that the cavemen taste ‘Delicious!”. It is possible to escape the grip of the Triffid’s vines by mashing buttons, however.

If playing with two players, it is possible to attack the Triffid to cause it to spit the other character out intact, as opposed to their skeletal remains. However this does not save them from losing a life. Read the rest of this entry »

Approximately 31 minutes into the film, we see Bowen and Draco duel.
