Super Mario Sunshine [GC, NS] – Eely-Mouth / Mario

Description: 

Noki Bay is accessible once 20 Shine Sprites are collected, if Mario looks into the sky while standing in the pillar of light by the canal.

Episode 4 of this level is known as Eely-Mouth’s Dentist, and Mario is tasked to dive to the bottom of the ocean and treat the giant creature’s dental problems. It will regularly try to inhale Mario in a vortex of water, and if its jaws close with him still inside, a brief scene shows it chewing Mario briefly, then spitting him out. This does not appear to cause Mario any damage, as much as it puts him in difficult position to find more air.

Super Mario Sunshine [GC, NS] – Yoshi / Various

Description: 

Yoshi can be found and used as a mount in select levels, unlocked after retrieving the Shine Sprite from Episode 4 of Pinna Park. This triggers an event in Delfino Plaza where Mario must rescue a Yoshi egg from Shadow Mario.

Once a Yoshi is coaxed out of its shell with fruit, Mario is able to ride and control it. Yoshi is able to grab enemies using its long tongue to swallow them, as well as other non-hostile creatures, such as birds and butterflies.

Kao the Kangaroo: Round 2 [GC, PC, PS2, XB] – Giant Plant / Kao

Description: 

In the first level of the game, Beaver’s Forest, there is a large plant behind the water wheel where Kao must rescue two beavers. If approached, the plant will lunge at Kao, snapping him up in its jaws, chewing and slurping on him before spitting him out. Even if all of Kao’s health is lost as a result of this, he will still be spit out, where he turns into an angel, as is his usual animation on losing a life.

The giant plant appears again in the level River Raid.

Description:

Round 5 of the game is the ice area, Planet Freon. The boss of this round is known as Itamor whose appearance varies between versions of the game. In the English version, Itamor is a slime monster, whereas in the original Japanese version, he is a blue robotic cat. Throughout the fight, Itamor will try to freeze Ristar with ice breath, and then inhale and chew on him, before spitting him out. If Ristar loses all his health this way, the screen just fades to black.

Description:

The first stage is known as Toxic Caves. At the bottom of the level in the water, the robotic serpent known as Rexxon can occasionally be seen swimming. After Sonic is launched onto the pinball playfield proper, if he falls between the flippers onto the platform, he is given a short opportunity to jump away and escape. If he fails to do so, Rexxon will emerge from the waters and grab Sonic with his mouth, who will struggle in vain as the jaws close on him and he is pulled under the water. Upon his next life, Sonic emerges from the water, implying he escaped from Rexxon.

Description: 

In Launch Octopus’ stage, there are several fish-like Reploids with round bodies known as Gulpfers. If Mega Man gets too close, they will try to suck him into their toothy mouth and engulf him. While inside, Mega Man will slowly take damage as if he was being digested. Making certain inputs will cause cause the Gulpfer’s body to wobble around in a subtle manner. Escape is quite simple by simply shooting and destroying the Gulpfer from the inside. Should Mega Man lose all his energy while inside the Gulpfer, he will not be spit out, but will still disintegrate into orbs as per usual.

Super Smash Bros. Melee [GC] – Yoshi / Various

Yoshi is capable to devouring other plays in two slightly different ways; to grab his enemy with his tongue, and swallow them to turn them into an egg, or his grapple attack, that grabs his enemy with his tongue and holds them in his mouth, to follow-up by spitting them out. In this version, Yoshi is able to chew on his enemy by pressing ‘A’ while they are in his mouth.
