Media: video game: “Astro’s Playroom”
Developer: Japan Studio, Team Asobi
Platform:
PlayStation 5

Description:

Once all four worlds are completed, a fifth level opens up with the subtitle “1994 Throwback.” Upon reaching the end of the brief level, the T-rex from the 1994 PlayStation tech demo appears as a boss. A view into its mouth can be seen as it roars at Astro Bot and spits enemies at him, and it will regularly use biting attacks, though this deals contact damage, rather than the T-rex actually swallowing him.

After defeating the T-rex, a robotic T-rex then appears and acts as the final boss. It behaves largely similarly to the first T-rex, but when defeated, Astro must grab its tongue and pull it so it strikes it in the face.

Developer: Japan Studio
Platform: PlayStation 3

In Act 3, Curtain 1, a headless dinosaur skeleton can be seen in the side of the cliff face. Using the Fossil Head’s (or Kutaro Head’s) unique action will cause it to come to life and devour Kutaro, grabbing him in its jaws, and chewing a few times before walking off-screen. The screen transitions to a view inside its belly, where the bonus level is played. Successfully reaching the end of the level brings Kutaro back up to the dinosaur’s mouth to be regurgitated, whereas falling in the acid will simply cause Kutaro to fail the bonus level. There are exceptions, such as Grarrls (T-rex-type) and Skeiths (dragon/demon-type), who are known for their appetite for anything, and indeed, can eat any item, including items that are sentient, such as Petpets and any other non-food item, like furniture or rocks (exceedingly rare and expensive items are not exempt from this) and will often comment on the taste. Level of satiety will also be commented on. Jetsams (shark-type) can do this as well, but only with aquatic Petpets, and doing so actually unlocks a special avatar.
