Neopets [Web] – Balthazar / Samrin, Petpets

Media: video game: “Neopets”
Developer: The Neopets Team
Platform: Web

Description:

The Flash game ‘Extreme Herder 2,’ is a newer, somewhat more polished version of what is essentially the same game as its predecessor. Again, the player controls a blue Kacheek named Samrin, who must save his Petpets (pig-like Snorkle, sheep-like Babaa, goat-like Hoovle) from being eaten by Balthazar, though this depiction of Balthazar has him more anthropomorphic, standing on his hind legs rather than all-fours. If Balthazar encounters either Samrin or the Petpets, Balthazar will reach forward and bring his hands to his mouth, but his prey seems to disappear far too early for this action to make any real sense, much less so for Samrin, who respawns before Balthazar can even bring him to his mouth.

Gesundheit! [Android, iOS] – Boss / Pig

Media: video game: “Gesundheit!”
Developer: Revolutionary Concepts
Platform: Android, iOS

Note: This game appears to no longer be available on Android at the time of writing.

Description:

The final level of the game, ‘The Big One,’ pits the pig against the boss (referred to simply as the “boss” in the game’s achievement list) and appears to be a giant trap monster, that had coalesced from five smaller trap monsters. Unlike trap monsters, staying within the boss’s line of sight for too long will prompt it to lick its lips, flick out its long tongue to grab the pig, to pull him into its mouth, before chewing and swallowing. Although two red monsters are also present in this level, there does not seem to be any way to trigger the boss to eat them, even if they stand between the boss and the pig as it flicks its tongue out.

Gesundheit! [Android, iOS] – Trap Monster / Other Monsters, Pig

Media: video game: “Gesundheit!”
Developer: Revolutionary Concepts
Platform: Android, iOS

Note: This game appears to no longer be available on Android at the time of writing.

Description:

In order to beat each level, the player must remove all monsters. This is achieved through luring them into trap monsters (labelled “Trap,” and depicted as fish-like creatures in the in-game gallery) to be eaten. In each level, they appear as a circle of teeth in the ground, sometimes with a long tongue sticking out in the middle (the variants with the tongue sticking out are able to grab airborne monsters, while those without the long tongue sticking out cannot). The pig can also be eaten if he walks into the trap monsters. Once a monster or the pig steps into the circle of teeth, the trap monster’s jaws will close around them, and they will disappear into the ground.

Gesundheit! [Android, iOS] – Rabbit Monster / Mosquito, Pig

Media: video game: “Gesundheit!”
Developer: Revolutionary Concepts
Platform: Android, iOS

Note: This game appears to no longer be available on Android at the time of writing.

Description:

The rabbit monster (official name unknown) is first introduced in level 26, ‘Good Earsight,’ and appears as a pink, blob-like creature with long rabbit ears. As they are blind, they will approach if the pig makes noise by either walking or lining up a shot. If they catch the pig, they will chomp down on his head, chew on him and then swallow. Another variant of this monster is an airborne one. In order to dispatch the airborne variant, they must be fed other monsters (mosquito enemies) until they gain so much weight that they are no longer airborne and can be eaten by the trap monsters.
