Note: There are different versions of the game with different names, balancing and content:

  • Vampire Savior: The Lord of Vampire/Vampire Savior: World of Darkness (original arcade release).
  • Vampire Hunter 2: Darkstalkers’ Revenge (modified arcade version using character roster from the second game in the series).
  • Vampire Savior 2: The Lord of Vampire (modified arcade version in which Rikuo, Jon Talbain and Sasquatch are replaced with Donovan, Huitzil and Pyron).
  • Darkstalkers 3 (Sega Saturn version contains all characters except Marionette, while the PlayStation 1 version contains all characters).

The Capcom Fighting Collection contains the three arcade versions.

Description:

One of the stages is called Green Scream, and is a jungle-type arena. In the background, the bottom half of a reptile can be seen sticking out of the mouth of a pitcher plant, whose tail is being pulled by another pitcher plant. The lizard can be seen struggling occasionally.

Concept art of the stage exists, in which the trapped animal appears more mammalian.

Duke Nukem II: Escape From Alien Abductors! [iOS, PC] – Plant / Duke

Description: 

First seen in level 4, there are green pitcher plant-like tubes that hang from certain points in the ceiling. It will occasionally reach down and try to grab Duke, but are usually only a hazard if Duke happens to be jumping at the same time. He will be held inside for a few seconds, before being spit out. He will still be spit out after losing all his health in this way.

Sdorica [Android, iOS] – Epic Nepenthes / Prickear Monkey, Puggi

Description: 

Puggi’s character quest has him adventure separately for Pang momentarily, and concludes when he tries to reunite with him, believing him to be in Whistlewood Valley. He follows some tracks, and spots an orange tail and lower body sticking out of the mouth of the giant plant, the Epic Nepenthes. Puggi tries to rescue him, only to find that after the plant had spit out the victim, it was in fact a Striped Prickear Monkey, not Pang. The Epic Nepenthes recovers shortly after and then lunges towards Puggi as the screen fades to black. Puggi wanders around the dark innards, only to rejoice after discovering some spoils inside.

This continues directly to Story Quest 3-7 ‘To Snatch a Seed’ where Tica and Leah encounter Pang, who is searching for Puggi in the same forest. After encountering and defeating the Epic Nepenthes, Puggi emerges with his treasures to rejoin Pang.

Final Fantasy VII [PS1] – Pitcher Plants / Frog, Insect

Description:

Ancient Forest is an optional area accessed late in Disc 2 after defeating ‘Ultimate Weapon’ (or perhaps earlier if one breeds a mountain-worthy Chocobo – green, black or gold). It is a series of mini-puzzles involving the use of insects, frogs, pitcher plants and other man-eating plants.

Throughout the area are small pale-looking pitcher plants. Once fed an insect or a frog, its lid will close, allowing Cloud to jump onto it. The prey inside will struggle, and in the case of frogs, will pop back out. Insects also struggle, but when the pitcher plants open again nothing will jump out. Description:

In the Sindar Ruins, the pitcher plant-like monsters known as Creeper can be encountered, which have the ability to inhale party members and squeeze them before spitting them out. At this point in the game, party members are assigned randomly from those already recruited, who may include humans, kobolds (portrayed as dog-men), a squirrel or a wolf. Once the boss of the Sindar Ruins is defeated, it seems they can no longer be encountered.

Later in the game, while escaping from Greenhill the first time, a palette-swapped version of the Creeper enemies, known as Melonzoo can be encountered. Apart from being stronger and having the watermelon-like stripes to its appearance, it is otherwise identical with the same inhale attack. The Melonzoo can only be fought at this time. Possible characters are again limited because there is an age restriction for party members at this point in the game, but may include humans, kobolds (dog-men), a squirrel or a wolf.

After the second major battle at Garan, pitcher plant-like enemies known as Creeper can be encountered in the overworld map outside the towns Antei, Teien, Rikon, etc. as well as inside Scarletica. One of their attacks is to draw a character into their bodies, squeeze them a number of times before expelling them. Due to the diversity of potential victims, it is difficult to be thorough as to who can fall prey, however they may include humans, elves and kobolds (portrayed as dog-men).
