Psycho Pinball [SG] – Whale / Psycho

Media: video game: “Psycho Pinball”
Developer: Codemasters
Platform: Sega Genesis

Note: The following only applies to the Sega Genesis version of the game. The PC/MS-DOS version of the game features different content.

Description:

The Abyss stage features a pink whale at the very top of the pinball table. When all the ‘TAIL’ letters are activated, this opens a section that allows the ball to reach the whale’s mouth, which triggers the Whale’s Belly mini game. In said game, the player controls Psycho the armadillo directly, in a mini platforming challenge. The goal is to stay on the floating platforms, while trying to grab and throw crabs at stomach ulcers, that triggers an influx of water (acid?) to eventually reach a power-up, symbolized by a question mark icon. Falling into the water will end the mini game. Similarly, if the player takes too long, the whale will sneeze, causing Psycho to fall into the water.

In the PC/MS-DOS version of the game, the Whale’s Belly mini game is not present; shooting the ball into the whale’s mouth will trigger a mini roulette-like event to receive a power-up.

In order to complete this part of the level, Mr. Blub must hit the fish’s glands in an order that will produce the same tune Richard is whistling. Developer: Valve, NEXON
Platform:

The boss known as Gluttony appears to be vaguely dragon-like in appearance, but with tiny forearms, large hind legs and a large dragging belly. He can be found in Season 4, in the level known as Conspiracy.

Throughout the fight, if the player is standing on the overhead platforms, Gluttony will occasionally inhale the player and swallow them. Swallowed players are taken to a separate area inside his belly and can navigate the small place, though movement is hampered by digestion damage, knocking them around. In order to escape, the player must plant three C4 explosives in his belly. Player characters who lose all health while inside the stomach collapse there, and are not spit out.

When the player character is at ground level relative to Gluttony, he may occasionally run up to the player to swallow them instead of inhaling them.

No special animation plays when seeing other players swallowed by Gluttony.
